We don’t believe in reporting the news from our desks. Led by Community Journalism Director Lexi Goodnough, our staff are on the ground, meeting residents where they live, work and play.

Here is where you can find us the week of Sept. 8-11. Got an idea of where we should head next? Email us at lexi@tulsaflyer.org about how we can connect with your community.

Free author talk with former mayor: Join the Flyer and Magic City Books for a conversation with former Mayor G.T. Bynum about his new book, “Taking Care: The Good Life of Robert J. LaFortune.” Interim Flyer managing editor Ginnie Graham will sit down with Bynum at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 inside OU Schusterman Center Founders Hall, 4502 E. 41st St. Get more details here

Community conversation series: Goodnough and Flyer cost of living reporter Libby Hobbs will connect with residents at Ignite Compassion, a free community event centered on stories of grief, caregiving and end-of-life experiences as well as local resources available to individuals and families. This event, in partnership with OKSO, will be held at NSU Broken Arrow Auditorium, 3100 New Orleans St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10. Click here for more information.
