All Oklahoma voters have choices to make Aug. 25 on two state questions: one regarding public school financing and the other seeking a more permanent voter ID requirement. Voters wanting more information can attend a free online forum at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The forum is hosted by Oklahoma United, Thanks for Voting OK and Let’s Fix This. The presentation will include context of the legislative referendums, language of the questions, background and summaries of the pros and cons. Time is being set aside for questions.

State Question 844 would allow the legislature to adjust reimbursement rates to local entities where manufacturers receive a tax exemption. A voter-approved property tax program for qualifying manufacturers includes a mandate for the legislature to reimburse local entities, including public schools and county governments, for the full amount of the lost revenue due to the exemption.
State Question 846 would add Oklahoma’s voter ID requirement to the state constitution. State law already requires proof of identity at the polls. This would enshrine in the constitution and allow lawmakers to specify those ID requirements.
