Corrections and Takedowns
We strive to be accurate, but we’re also human. We will correct any error we discover as soon as we discover it. We will note the correction at the bottom of the story.
We consider story removal requests seriously and on an individual basis. Typically, we would not take a story down unless there were significant factual errors in the story.
You can reach us at corrections@tulsaflyer.org with requests or questions. Please include your name, contact information and details on the issue you found in the story.

Journalistic Ethics
We know our credibility is everything, so we have policies in place that are designed to avoid conflicts of interest.
- Our staff must recuse themselves from stories involving personal relationships, financial stakes or organizational affiliations.
- If a reasonable person could question our impartiality, our reporters must disclose their concerns to an editor who can then reassign coverage.
- Journalists and editors cannot donate to campaigns, political action committees or partisan causes for the duration of their employment.
- Voting is private and encouraged. On social media, reposts without context aren’t allowed and neither are endorsements.
- Our employees may not sign any petitions for causes that may reasonably be considered partisan. This includes any ballot initiative.
- We don’t accept gifts, such as meals, event tickets or merchandise (with the exception of review materials) as they create obligation. If a gift is unavoidable, we will donate it to charity.
- We cover our own costs for travel and coverage.
AI Usage
Artificial intelligence is a game-changer. And the entire journalism industry is trying to come to grips with what it means and how to use it. Here’s what we’ve come up with:
- Any use of AI that significantly impacts the creation, editing or distribution of journalistic content will be clearly disclosed within the article. It will be clearly stated how the AI was used in a disclosure at the bottom of the story. The disclosure should specify the nature and extent of AI involvement, the steps taken to ensure accuracy and mitigate risks such as bias or inaccuracy, including human editorial oversight (e.g., We used an AI agent to do a keyword analysis of more than 5,000 public records in this story.).
- Staff will never upload or input proprietary, confidential, unpublished or sensitive information-including source materials, internal communications or trade secrets into any external AI tools or platforms (e.g., ChatGPT or other generative AI services). The privacy of our sources and the information they share with us is paramount.
- As new tools become available and AI reshapes our digital world, our policies will evolve too. We will publish any updates on this page.
Donor Transparency
We are committed to transparency in every aspect of funding our organization.
Accepting financial support does not mean we endorse donors or their products, services or opinions.
We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals, organizations and foundations to help with our general operations, coverage of specific topics, and special projects. Our news judgments are made independently – not based on or influenced by donors. We do not give supporters the rights to assign, review or edit content.
We will make public all donors who give $5,000 or more per year. As a nonprofit, we will avoid accepting donations from anonymous sources, and we will not accept donations from government entities, political parties, elected officials or candidates actively seeking public office. We will not accept donations from sources who, deemed by our board of directors, present a conflict of interest with our work or compromise our independence.
