The Tulsa Asian Affairs Commission (AAC) is seeking 50 stories to represent the diversity of Tulsa’s Asian community. The commission hopes to collect the stories in time for the inaugural Tulsa Asia Fest Jan. 31 at the Arvest Convention Center.
By collecting these stories, the commission aims to build a story bank that elevates the voices of the communities it represents.
“We need 50 (stories) by Jan. 24, and currently we have seven – four of which are from commissioners,” said Parisa Pilehvar, vice chair of the commission.
Pilehvar reminded commissioners they represent communities across the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Pacific Islands, and it is important for Asia Fest attendees to see the “faces and stories that tell the richness of our community.”
While the commission plans to share stories through social media and future community events, the initial 50 submissions will be displayed publicly at Tulsa Asia Fest.
Community members interested in sharing their stories can do so by filling out this form.
