Tulsa Opera and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma are the latest organizations to join the mayor’s Pay Equity Pledge, a program launched by the Tulsa Women’s Commission in 2021 to recognize employers working to close the gender pay gap in Tulsa County.
Although women make up 51.2% of the county’s population and participate in the workforce at a rate of 73.8%, they still earn 84 cents for every dollar earned by men. City leaders say narrowing that gap is key to strengthening economic growth and prosperity.
Other signatories include the City of Tulsa, Arvest Bank, ONE Gas and Public Service Company of Oklahoma.
