Tulsa City-County Library debuted its new TCCL Express book vending machine kiosk Nov. 23 at Tulsa Premium Outlets in Jenks – only for it to shut down less than 48 hours later due to a “water issue.”

TCCL Express’ website now shows “temporarily closed” with no reopening date.

Installed by FE Technologies, the firm behind the “Anytime Library” self-service kiosk system, the TCCL Express was advertised as a  fully autonomous, year-round mini-library with capacity for hundreds of books and curated for high-traffic locations.

According to FE Technologies’ website, their platform has already supported libraries across the country, reportedly serving “millions of transactions annually.”

As of now, Tulsa City‑County Library has not provided an estimated time for when TCCL Express will be back in operation. The vending machine is Tulsa City-County Library’s 25th location.
