Tulsa’s Route 66 Capital Cruise: Classic Car Centennial Parade will hit the road May 30, led by a lineup of grand marshals that includes some familiar Oklahoma names.

The entourage includes Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell; Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols; Michael Wallis, a bestselling author, Tulsa Hall-of-Famer and voice of the sheriff in Pixar’s “Cars”; and Derek Bieri, founder and owner of Vice Grip Garage.

Organizers are aiming to break a Guinness World Record for the most classic cars in a single parade by attracting 3,000 participants.

“It is a tremendous honor to be a grand marshal for Tulsa’s Capital Cruise, and I cannot wait for May 30,” said Pinnell.

Leading up to the Capital Cruise, the Capital Cruise Expo is set for 2 to 8 p.m. May 28 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 29. The Tailgate presented by Bank of Oklahoma will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. All events are free and open to the public.

The Capital Cruise is still recruiting drivers and volunteers. More information is available at  capitalofroute66.com.
