Two new Tulsa City-County Library Express vending kiosks are coming to Tulsa International Airport, though a timeline for installation remains unclear.

The airport will provide space at no cost to the library in the waiting and children’s play areas outside security in Terminals A and B. Each kiosk will hold 200 items for guests to peruse and check out. TCCL Express machines will also promote the library’s digital collection so that customers may download materials as well.

“The airport has over three million people coming through its doors each year,” Rebakah Cowan, the library’s chief technology officer, said at the Oct. 15 library commission meeting. “This provides a very high traffic area in the community for a TCCL Express location.”

The expansion builds on the library’s existing partnership with the airport, which includes monthly children’s storytimes. Those events average 59 attendees, Cowan told commissioners.

The library also operates a TCCL Express location at Tulsa Premium Outlets in Jenks. In response to questions from the Flyer, the library said it did not have a timeline for the airport kiosks or usage numbers from the existing express location.
