Tulsa Community College officials announced Tuesday the 2026-27 season will be the last one for Signature Symphony at TCC.
According to the school, the decision to end Signature Symphony followed a financial review that included operating costs, ticket sales and concerns about long-term sustainability. In addition to financial and in-kind support, TCC has continued to subsidize a large number of tickets.
“This was not an easy decision. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to Signature Symphony,” said TCC President Leigh Goodson, Ph.D. “However, the college has a responsibility to carefully evaluate its use of resources and maintain a strong commitment to financial responsibility with a focus on student success.”
The closure will affect approximately 70 part-time, contracted professional musicians and four staff. It will not affect TCC academic programs or enrolled students.
Signature Symphony was formed in 1978 and moved to TCC in 1996 as the professional orchestra-in-residence for TCC’s VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education.
