Tulsa Public Schools’ deputy superintendent is leaving the district for a national position with the YMCA.
Superintendent Ebony Johnson shared the news in an email to district staff Wednesday evening. She included a message from Dr. Kathy Dodd, who will leave TPS at the end of September to become vice president of educational partnerships and business development for YMCA of the USA.
“I am proud of what we have accomplished and humbled to have served TPS during such an important time,” reads Dodd’s message. “Most of all, I am thankful that I had the opportunity to do this work alongside Dr. Johnson and you.”
Johnson thanked Dodd for her work at TPS and said the district is stronger because of her contributions. Dodd has served as deputy superintendent since May 2024. She joined the district in January 2023 as chief strategy and innovation officer.
Before joining TPS, Dodd previously served as chief innovation officer and deputy superintendent for the Oklahoma State Department of Education and as regional vice president for Project Lead the Way, a national STEM nonprofit. She also served as associate superintendent of Union Public Schools.
