Buying a home can be a daunting task, but this program aims to make the path to homeownership for teachers less cumbersome.
Green Country Habitat for Humanity’s Education Begins With Home program connects Tulsa-area teachers with cost assistance, accessible mortgage options, homebuyer education and financial counseling on their pathway to homeownership.
Teachers who qualify can receive up to $50,000 in forgivable down-payment assistance and a below-market 30-year fixed-rate mortgage. A major gift from the Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation is expected to extend the program’s reach.
Who qualifies?
The newly expanded program will serve eligible educators from Tulsa Public Schools, Union Public Schools, Tulsa Legacy Charter School, KIPP Tulsa, Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences, College Bound Academy, Tulsa Honor Academy, Under the Canopy School and Crossover Preparatory Academy. Teachers can be traditionally certified, emergency-certified and noncertified classroom teachers.

State and local leaders, including Oklahoma State Superintendent Lindel Fields and superintendents at TPS and Union, will celebrate the expansion at a Sept. 15 event.
