Tulsa City Council heard first readings of amendments to the city’s 2025-26 budget, which would authorize more than $3.6 million in supplemental public safety spending drawn from unappropriated fund balances.

Supplemental appropriations allow the city to approve additional spending after the annual budget has already been adopted, using funds that were previously unallocated.

The largest portion of the funding, $3.38 million, would come from the Public Safety and Protection SubFund to support a law enforcement records management system, a major infrastructure investment for police operations.

An additional $319,867 would be allocated from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services SubFund to support the city’s Mobile Crisis Response Team.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story reported council approved the amendments, but this was a first reading.
