The Tulsa Housing Authority held a ribbon cutting Tuesday to celebrate the opening of The Landing at 36N. The new complex, part of the continued redevelopment of the former Comanche Apartments, brings 70 more housing units to the community.
The Landing includes a combination of mixed-income, workforce and market-rate units. At its completion, the entire 36N project will comprise 545 mixed-income options.
“The Landing represents more than a $30 million investment in north Tulsa,” Aaron Darden, president of the Tulsa Housing Authority, said Tuesday. “Each phase gives us an opportunity to follow through on the vision that this community helped to create.”
THA first welcomed tenants to the redeveloped Phoenix 36N in September of last year. That complex includes The Grocery Box, a micro-grocery store opened by RG Foods in April.
The Landing complex includes a fitness room and lounge for residents as well as commercial space.
Gene Bulmash, Tulsa’s senior advisor on housing, said the entire 36N project is “the largest investment in mixed-income housing in Tulsa’s history, totaling more than $200 million.”
Mayor Monroe Nichols set a goal of developing 6,000 new housing units by 2028.
“As each one of these seven phases nears completion, we move one step closer to provide more homes, more amenities and ultimately more opportunity for Tulsans and residents in North Tulsa,” Bulmash said.
