Oasis Fresh Market is expanding into south Tulsa after acquiring Cox Cash Saver at 6207 S. Peoria Ave.
AJ Johnson, founder and CEO of Oasis, said the acquisition will transform Cash Saver into a “higher-quality” grocery store with fresh produce and better shelf standards once it officially transitions “by or before” May 25.
It’s the third full-sized Oasis location announced in Tulsa. Oasis plans to open a downtown location in June on the first floor of the ARCO apartment building, the first downtown grocer in over a decade.
In April, the store also opened a mini market at the Western Supply apartments.
Johnson opened the first Oasis location at 1725 N. Peoria Ave. in 2021 to address food insecurity in the area.
“Five years ago, people told me a full grocery store could not survive in north Tulsa,” Johnson said. “We are not just surviving. We are acquiring and expanding. Five years. Four stores. One Tulsa.”
The original location is just two grocery stores in north Tulsa, which is considered a food desert with limited access to nutritious options.
Since then, Oasis has launched several fundraising campaigns to help feed residents during times of crisis, like October’s government shutdown and Winter Storm Fern.
