Lee Raybon is back on the case. According to series star and producer Ethan Hawke, “The Lowdown” has been renewed for a second season by FX.

Fans learned the news Wednesday after Hawke posted on his Instagram account: “We’re back baby! #TheLowdown Season 2.”

“The Lowdown,” co-created by Tulsa’s own Sterlin Harjo, follows citizen journalist Lee Raybon, a self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” played by Hawke. The series is inspired by the life of late citizen journalist Lee Roy Chapman.

“Love this story, and I love this city,” Harjo, a filmmaker who gained fame for the award-winning FX series “Reservation Dogs,” told the Flyer after it was announced. “Can’t wait to do more.”

The first season, comprised of eight episodes available to stream on Hulu, featured Jeanne Tripplehorn, Keith David, Kyle MacLachlan, Tim Blake Nelson, Peter Dinklage and more. It also featured a stellar soundtrack of local music.

Widely considered one of the best shows of 2025 after airing last fall, “The Lowdown” was named to numerous Top 10 lists, including the American Film Institute’s award honorees

The series filmed across the Tulsa metro, including stops at the Philbrook Museum of Art, Harwelden Mansion and Magic City Books. Filming for the second season is set to kick off in March and last through the summer.
