Community Health Connection will soon break ground on a new maternal and child health center to expand its services to women and children in Tulsa.

The new facility will be located adjacent to Community Health Connection’s Ellen Ochoa Health Center on the grounds of Union Public Schools’ Ellen Ochoa Elementary School campus. The district donated the land for the new facility.

Community Health Connection CEO Kate Neary, Tulsa Deputy Mayor Krystal Reyes and Union Public Schools Superintendent John Federline, among others, will celebrate the groundbreaking at 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at Ellen Ochoa Health Center, 12020 E. 31st St.

Health center leadership has known for years that it was reaching capacity to serve new patients, Neary told the Flyer. The maternal and child health department is the fastest-growing within the organization, but Community Health Connection has not had the chance to hire new providers and meet patient needs across all programs.

The facility will allow for patients to experience shorter wait times, Neary said. She recognizes that the east side is a medically underserved area, making it a natural fit to expand services near their existing facility.

“The center will provide families with seamless care from conception through delivery and beyond, as well as give children access to comprehensive pediatric services in an environment designed specifically for young patients and their families,” Neary said in a statement.

The new 22,000-square-foot facility will be the organization’s fifth location and will increase pediatric and obstetric care for Tulsans.

The facility is set to be completed in spring 2027, with capacity to provide services to an additional 3,000 families.
