The Tulsa Farmers’ Market will help supplement the loss of SNAP benefits next month, thanks to support from private donors and community members.

Beginning Nov. 1, SNAP card holders will receive $20 in community tokens to use at the market, with a cap of 70 recipients every Saturday. Recipients can pick up their community tokens at the market’s token booth.

The Tulsa Farmers’ Market is at Admiral and Lewis from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday through March. The Nov. 1 market coincides with the first day that food stamp recipients can no longer use their benefits amid the federal government shutdown, which began Oct. 1.

Where can you help

The Tulsa Farmers’ Market is asking community members to donate to the supplement fund to continue providing SNAP recipients access to local, naturally grown food via the community token program. All donations are tax-deductible and will be matched up to $4,000 until Nov. 15.
