Spring break has ended and many Tulsa families have entered the home stretch of the school year. As summer vacation approaches, registrations for day camps are open and the city’s got a competitive market. 

Tulsa offers a variety of camps, from STEM and art to field trips and exploring professions. We’ve put together a list of options around the city. 

Free summer day camps

University of Oklahoma MASH & Mini MASH Day Summer Camps 

OU-Tulsa Schusterman Center, 4502 E. 41st St., Tulsa

Young students who want to have a career in health care can explore medicine through the University of Oklahoma’s MASH & Mini MASH day camps. They will do hands-on activities in science, math and multidisciplinary learning. 

High school students can attend from June 15-18, and middle school students have camp June 22-25. Both take place at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa campus

STARBASE Tulsa Summer Camps 

Tulsa Air National Guard, 9100 E 46th St. N., Tulsa

Kids ages 8 to 11 can find an immersive and interactive experience focused on real world applications of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM). 

From June 8-11, the camp is open to military dependents only. It opens to the public June 15-18 and runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The registration deadline is May 1. 

Broken Arrow Summer STEM Camp

Tulsa Technology Lemley Memorial Campus, 3420 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa

From June 15-18, campers in 10th to 12th grade will get hands-on experience interacting with professionals on the sites of some of the region’s major industries. Students are picked up from multiple campuses and brought to the camp. The deadline to apply is May 29. 

Tulsa Public Schools Summer Learning

Multiple campuses

Summer learning sessions are available from July 6-30 Monday through Thursday for Tulsa Public Schools students in K-5th grade to provide academic support and engaging enrichment activities. 

Applications for 6th-8th grades will be based on academic need per invitation, then opened up to all TPS middle school students. The classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will be routed to program locations based on their current school.

Camps with financial aid or discounts

Tulsa County Parks

Buddy LaFortune Community Center at LaFortune Park, Chandler Park and South County Recreation Center 

The weekly camps for ages 6 to 12 are held from May 26 to July 31. The cost is $175 per week and includes field trips to pools, the Tulsa Zoo, aquarium, Oxley Nature Center, a Drillers game and more.

Tulsa Parks

Whiteside, Reed, Hicks, Lacy, Jane Malone Center in Chamberlain. You can see the online map for locations.

The camps for ages 6 to 1 run from June 2 to July 31. Weekly camps are offered for $140 per week with discounts and scholarships available. 

Waterworks Art Center Day Camp

1710 Charles Page Blvd., Tulsa

The camps for ages 7 to 11 run for two weeks and begin the week of June 2 with the last session set for July 13. It costs $280 per session with sibling discounts available. WaterWorks Art Center sessions feature drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, clay, weaving, and all art supplies.

YMCA Tulsa Summer Day Camps

Options at the Okmulgee, Owasso, Tandy and Herman and Kate branches

The weekly sessions for ages 4 to 12 begin May 26 and run until Aug. 18. It cost $260 per week for members and $310 for nonmembers. However, Oklahoma Department of Human Services subsidies are accepted. YMCA scholarships are also available to families who qualify. These camps feature outdoor games and exploration, sports and fitness, water activities and more.

Tulsa Zoo summer camps

Tulsa Zoo, 6421 E 36th St N., Tulsa

Lean into your wild side and enjoy tours, games and close-up animal encounters. Camps for four-year-olds through 8th grade run weekly from June 1 to Aug. 3 and cost $275 a week. Grades 9 through 12 can enroll for $85 a week. Zoo members receive 10% off registration. 

University School Summer Explorers Camp

University of Tulsa, 800 S. Tucker Drive

For ages 4 through 8th grade, University School offers students a chance to create and have fun through hands-on projects, collaborative learning and more. Each age group follows its own unique set of weekly themes designed to match developmental stages and interests. The weekly camps run June 1 through July 13 and cost $350 a week. 

Tulsa Public Schools’ Kravis Summer Arts Camp

Lewis & Clark Elementary, 737 S. Garnett Road

From June 1-12, students from across the city could find their inspiration with the Kravis Arts Camps in visual arts, musical theater, theater and band. Placement is available for students in 1st grade all the way through high school. The $200 fee per student includes instruction, instruments, tools and materials needed in each discipline.
