Sam Levrault
Print Production Director, The Oklahoma Eagle
What I do here
I design the weekly print edition of The Oklahoma Eagle. I work with our talented team of writers to bring their stories to the page and curate visuals to bring stories to life.
My Background
As a Midwest kid of radio parents, I grew up across many states surrounded by music and media of all kinds. My appreciation for storytelling through music grew into a passion for connecting people through media. Prior to my time at The Oklahoma Eagle, I worked on production teams in radio stations and conducted live sound engineering for performance centers.
I’ve also held many positions at Tulsa Community College’s student news publication, The TCC Connection, which I continue to help lead and advise. I graduated from TCC’s digital media program in 2020 after completing an internship with OKPOP, where I was on the launch team for their OKPOP Radio Hour Podcast.
Always looking for more ways to communicate and tell stories, I completed a Spanish degree in 2022 and have since offered community interpretative services through volunteering and in an official capacity for Jenks Public Schools. I joined The Oklahoma Eagle in 2021 shortly before the centennial anniversary for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre as their lead print designer, making contributions in both words and photography.
The last thing to know is that I am a collector of music and love to hear what people are listening to. Send me your playlists, mixtapes, or whatever earworm is playing in your head — it could make it in my monthly playlist!
Where can you find me in Tulsa?
Anywhere there is good food, music, or community gathering is always a good place to start! My calendar is a constant rotation of concerts, vendor markets, art showcases and community events. I’m always open to new recommendations, so send me your flyers, invitations or lists of must-sees and I’ll stop by!
Journalistic ethics
My goal in storytelling is to communicate so the audience can experience the details, message and soul of a story in a way most authentic to the source. I see storytelling as a set of tools that help share legacy, experiences and culture. Stories often are an extension of the voices they represent. As a journalist with these unique skills, one of the biggest honors and callings I serve is to amplify voices that have otherwise gone unheard.
